About the customer

IWIN is a solution that provides real time updates for election processes, it was used in the Nigerian 2023 election for polling election results, including the results of each polling unit and the overall results as they come in, the application is owned by the customer Automation Hub.

The platform supports integrations with Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, In serving restful and https services microservices. A key requirement for the service was to provide real-time updates and analysis to users about important elections as it progresses, this include results of individual states and a graphical dashboard with representations of the results on a Nigerian Map.

To achieve this, the CIL team designed the solution with a native suite of Amazon Web Services (AWS).The services include AWS Elastic Compute Cloud, Amazon Cloudfront, Amazon Route53, AWS RDS, Amazon Simple Storage Service, and Amazon WAF.

The Automation Hub team understood the need to have a real-time tracking application to keep users updated on the Nigerian elections.The also offers a range of tools and resources to help users better understand the electoral process, including information on political parties and candidates, key issues, and policy positions. The Automation Hub team is dedicated to providing innovative features and leveraging the latest technologies to ensure that users have access to the most comprehensive and accurate information possible . The team believes that by leveraging the power of AWS services, they can continue to innovate and deliver new features that will attract and retain a large number of consumers.

The challenge

The main challenge that IWIN was facing was to build a scalable service that could handle ever increasing traffic.

The Solution

CIL's solution to the challenge leveraged a wide range of serverless AWS services to deliver a highly performant, available and secure suite of business services on Amazon Web Services (AWS) services.
Our team used Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud to deliver the application to the end users. The application had multiple EC2 instances in 3 availability zones for both availability. We made use of Amazon RDS to provide an SQL Database to store the required data from which the view and analysis of the election result is updated on the application.

How we used AWS as part of the Solution

The CIL team native AWS developer tools including codepipeline, codebuild and code commit for continuous integration and delivery of the solution. This sets the foundation for automation and rapid feature releases as the results are collected and imputed.
