CIL Builds Jously with AWS Native Services

About the Customer

Jously is an all-encompassing solution that enables users to effortlessly create and manage customized cards for various occasions, such as weddings, birthdays, and holidays. The application offers a broad range of features that automate and optimize the card-making process, including customizable card templates, photo and text editing tools, and the option to add personalized messages. Jously is built on a cloud-based platform, which makes it easily accessible from any location with an internet connection and enables remote team collaboration.

Jously provides users with a user-friendly interface that allows them to create customized cards quickly and easily. Users can choose from a variety of pre-made templates, edit images and text, and add personal messages to create custom cards that are unique to them. Additionally, users can save and manage their creations, making it simple to retrieve and reuse them in the future. To ensure data security, Jously implements advanced security protocols that safeguard sensitive user information and data.

Jously's backend is built using AWS services such as Lambda, DynamoDB, and API Gateway. AWS Lambda is leveraged to execute the app's backend logic in response to events, allowing for automatic scaling of the application based on demand. Amazon DynamoDB stores the application's data, including user information and card creations, and offers fast and predictable performance with smooth scalability. Amazon API Gateway creates an API for the app, which allows other applications, services, or systems to access and use it, handles authentication and authorization, and provides monitoring of API usage and performance.

The challenge

Jously is an online platform that allows users to collaborate on a card and have it delivered to their loved ones and employees without any hassle. One of the biggest challenges that Jously faced was ensuring that the platform is fast, reliable, and secure. Since the platform deals with sensitive user information and has to handle multiple requests simultaneously, Jously needed a scalable and secure content delivery network that could deliver content quickly and reliably to users worldwide.

The Solution

To address Jously's challenges, we proposed a solution that made use of Amazon Cloudfront, a content delivery network (CDN) service built for high performance, security, and developer convenience. Cloudfront is designed to cache content at edge locations that are closer to users, reducing latency and improving website performance.

We worked with the Jously team to integrate Cloudfront into their existing infrastructure. The solution involved setting up Amazon S3 buckets to store the website's static content, which was then distributed to edge locations using Cloudfront. This allowed Jously's content to be delivered quickly and efficiently to users around the world

In addition to performance improvements, we also focused on ensuring that Jously's website remained secure. We implemented SSL/TLS encryption for all content distributed via Cloudfront, ensuring that user data and website traffic remained secure.

How we used AWS as part of the Solution

AWS was integral to the Jously solution. Amazon Cloudfront was used to deliver content to users across the globe, while Amazon S3 was used to store the website's static content. We also made use of Amazon Certificate Manager (ACM) to manage SSL/TLS certificates for secure content delivery via Cloudfront.

To further enhance the website's security, we leveraged AWS WAF (Web Application Firewall) to protect against common web threats, such as SQL injection and cross-site scripting attacks. Additionally, Amazon CloudWatch was used to monitor Cloudfront's performance and ensure that Jously's website remained available and responsive at all times.

The result

The Jously solution achieved significant performance improvements and enhanced security. The use of Amazon Cloudfront ensured that the website's content was delivered quickly and efficiently to users around the globe, resulting in improved user experience and increased engagement.

The implementation of SSL/TLS encryption for all content distributed via Cloudfront ensured that user data and website traffic remained secure. The use of AWS WAF also helped protect the website against common web threats, further enhancing its security.
